female hair lossAlthough there are many ways to prevent female hair loss, some causes or triggers are hard to avoid no matter what you do. In this article I would like to cover the ins and outs of female hair loss prevention.

Eat well

The first thing you should consider is your diet. Hair loss can often be directly attributed to the individual’s dieting habits.

For example, foods that contain a generous amount of vitamins and nutrients are a good start. In particular, look for foods that a rich in vitamin A as this particular vitamin is well known for its natural benefits on the hair and skin. It can also help with general growth, vision and development of the body all round. Foods such as cereals (the healthy types – not sugar coated corn), green vegetables, potatoes and dairy products are some good examples of the types of food that provide high levels of vitamin A.
You should also look for protein rich foods to compliment your diet such as poultry, nuts and eggs. Fish is also an excellent source of vitamin B12 which can help the growth of the body and keep a good oil balance in your hair and skin so that it doesn’t dry and die.
Finally, look for a good provider of Zinc. A moderate supply of Zinc will help keep hair and skin healthy, whilst promoting natural growth. Whole grain bread, meats and soybeans all provide good sources of Zinc to aid with female hair loss prevention.

Sleep tight

Make sure that you sleep regularly and stick to a pattern of eating and sleeping. Lack of sleep and irregular eating patterns are triggers for stress – when stress occurs, so does the likelihood of hair loss.

Look after your hair

I know it sounds obvious, but many women (and yes, men too) often inflict damage to their own hair without intention. Things like brushing your hair whilst wet and applying too many chemical based hair care products on a frequent basis are all factors which contribute to eventual hair loss. Try to avoid products that contain abrasive chemicals and always ask a beautician or a similar professional if you think that your existing hair care products might be the root of your hair loss.

Another aspect of hair care is to let it breathe. What do I mean by that? Quite simply, try not to wear your hair too tight for prolonged amounts of time and try to avoid wearing your hair scrunched up and suffocated under hats and/or baseball caps all day long.

Check your medicine cupboard

Not for a solution, but for a cause. That’s right, something you may have been prescribed or take on a regular basis may have ingredients that could well be triggering hair loss. This is of course far less likely, yet it may be worth a quick call to your doctor to check if this may at all be possible. You might be surprised.

Save your Scalp

Many people abuse the surface of the scalp without even realising. Considering the scalp is virtually the direct source of hair growth, you should be extra careful not to rub into it whilst washing your hair. Also try to avoid conditioners or bleaches etc from coming into direct contact with the scalp.

These are the fundamental precautions you should take for female hair loss prevention. Try to get into the habit of following these guidelines and after a while you will find that you will not need to think about it at all.

Of course, certain conditions are unavoidable in relation to female hair loss – such as pregnancy and coming of the pill for example amongst many.

There are of course many specialist products to help you recover lost hair and ensure natural, safe and healthy hair loss prevention is maintained well into the future. Many of which I review on my website.

Female hair loss

Female hair loss occurs in more than one pattern. If you are a woman with loss of scalp hair, you should seek professional advice from a physician hair restoration specialist.

In most cases, female hair loss can be effectively treated. If you are a woman who has started to lose scalp hair, you are not alone if:

1. You are unpleasantly surprised by the hair loss
2. You don’t understand why you are losing hair

Common or “hereditary” baldness in women, also called female pattern alopecia, is genetic and can come either the mother’s or father’s side of the family. Various forms of estrogen can “oppose” androgens and thereby reduce their availability to the cell, by blocking androgen receptors. A woman who notices the beginning of hair loss may not be sure if the loss is going to be temporary or permanent – for example, if there has been a recent event such as pregnancy or illness that may be associated with temporary hair thinning.

In women more often than in men, hair loss may be due to conditions other than androgenetic alopecia. Because beautiful hair is a sign of youthfulness and longevity, hair loss can leave you feeling confused, helpless, frustrated and angry. Many women do not realize that hair loss can occur after pregnancy or following discontinuation of birth control pills. It may also follow any sudden physical or psychological stress to the body. Alopecia means baldness, but just as in men, it does not have to be complete hair loss. This is seen as hair thinning predominantly over the top and front of the head. Treatment of this type of hair loss includes immunomodulating therapies such as glucocorticoids, topical immunotherapy, or anthralin, or biologic-responce modifiers such as Minoxidil. The choice of treatment depends on the patient’s age, as well as the extent of hair loss.

Causes of Female hair loss:

Causes of Female hair loss

The most common causes of hair loss in women are not related to inherited genes, but to temporary metabolic problems associated with pregnancy, unusual stress, chemotherapy, crash diets/anorexia, thyroid hormone deficiency, major surgery, severe infection or high fever. Certain drugs can also take their toll on once lush and healthy tresses.

Symptoms of Female hair loss:

The main symptoms are:

1. Thinning of hair over the entire head.

2. Mild to moderate hair loss at the crown or hairline.

Diagnosis of Hair Loss in Women

A doctor can diagnose your hair loss on the basis of (for example) medical history. Other facts on which a diagnosis can be based are:

Regularly checking the pattern of your hair.

Treatment of Female hair loss:

Treatment options for women are more limited than those available to men. A consultation with a skilled specialist to discuss your options is advised. The popular topical treatment Rogaine for women (minoxidil) can be used by women. And many women do hair restoration surgery to restore their hair. Hormone replacement pills, such as Prempro, plus Aldactone are better after menopause. Experienced hair transplant surgeons can often achieve excellent results in women with the new follicular unit and minigraft techniques. If treatment fails, or is not desired professional counseling might be of help. Perms, dyes and other cosmetic options can be used to give a fuller appearance to hair.

If treatment fails, or is not desired professional counseling might be of help. Perms, dyes and other cosmetic options can be used to give a fuller appearance to hair. Contrary to common wisdom, shampooing doesn’t increase real hair loss. Some salons specialize in the modern forms of hair additions; these have also made recent improvements in simulating a natural appearance. A consultation with a skilled specialist to discuss your options is advised.

Female Hair Loss — The Problem

Our culture is frequently silent on the topic of female hair loss as there are such a lot of jokes and commercials about hair loss among man. Also, female hair loss is not a socially acceptable condition as like that of men. One out of five females has thinning hair, but not one of them knows the topic of female balding.

The most typical reason for hair loss in ladies is androgenetic alopecia. If your dad or mum is afflicted by hair loss, there is a likelihood that you are going to have to cope with balding too. Aside from this, other predisposing factors causing female hair loss are severe stress, sickness that includes special diet and medication (chemotherapy). It is also known that medicine for diabetics may possibly cause female alopecia.

It should be noted that if you find out that you are likely to lose your hair, do not panic. You are not losing your friends or your job. You do not have to feel alone; do not lose hope as there are 30,000,000 other women afflicted by female alopecia thru out the world. Do not lose your confidence and also remember that you are not less gorgeous than before. There are so many nice people worldwide who will support you and you can also find a person that may look past your thinning hair.

There are many options available on the market to cope with female hair loss. This product, Rogaine, is an example of the most well liked medicines for male balding. It costs not more than $50 a month. This product has been widely employed by girls for female hair loss and has been found to slow down and, in a few cases, even revert hair loss.

Some doctors wish to prescribe treatments of estrogen for female balding. There is no proven research that supports that the lack of estrogen causes female balding.
Female alopecia pattern is wholly different from that of men. Rather than experiencing total balding, the female hair loss condition sometimes has little hairless patches and hair in these areas is getting thinner and thinner. Some suffer from hair loss after parturition. In such a case, the condition will get resolved after they have stopped nursing their baby.

A Female Hair Loss Treatments And Why Hair Loss Is Different On Venus

Female hair loss treatments often differ to men’s, for a number of reasons. The main prescription hair loss treatment for men, the drug propecia, is generally not as effective in women, although an Italian study seemed to show some promise with it.

The study followed the experience of 37 women who were given 2.5 mg of propecia a day, as well as the contraceptive pill. As propecia can cause deformities in the development of a male fetus’ sex organs, propecia cannot be given to women who have a chance of conceiving, or who are pregnant.

Results were measured by taking photos of the women’s heads, and using a technique called computerized light videodermoscopy to measure the density of hairs. Women tend to have thinning hair when they suffer hair loss, and don’t often go completely bald.

After 12 months of treatment, 23 women (62%) had improvements in their hair thickness. Those women who had most hair loss down the middle of the top of the head, showed the most improvement. Only one woman was found to have worse hair loss.

But more studies on propecia as a female hair loss treatment need to be conducted before it is given the green light as a treatment option. Not only is there the issue of fetal damage, making it a risky drug for women, but this study is not conclusive as evidence that it will actually work for all, or most, women.

Generally, women are given topical treatments like minoxidil to encourage hair growth. Minoxidil has drawbacks in that it has to be applied to the scalp twice a day, and some women are allergic to it. Unfortunately, scientists have not come up with a hair loss medication that will definitely work for women.

Another reason female hair loss treatments differ to men’s is that the causes of female hair loss often vary. Hair loss in women is often associated with hormonal changes like menopause, discontinuing birth control pills, and after pregnancy. There is a 3 month delay before signs of hair loss will appear, so if you’re noticing hair loss now, it was probably triggered 3 months ago. And it can take another 3 months before new growth starts to show.

Another factor in female hair loss is excessive dieting or sudden weight loss. Hair requires nutrients to grow just as any other part of the body does, What we eat can not only affect how shiny and healthy our hair appears, but also hair loss. Whilst men can suffer hair loss from similar weight loss, women tend to be more involved with extreme diets than men.

Female hair loss can also be an indicator of a medical condition, such as an underactive thyroid gland, diabetes, anemia, and PCOS. It’s a good idea to get these possible issued ruled out by a doctor first. If they are at the root of the hair loss problem, no amount of hair loss medications or topical treatments or hair vitamins is going to stop hair loss until that is treated.

Hair loss that is caused by physical or emotional stress generally resolves itself when the stressor is dealt with, without any female hair loss treatment. But because of the hair’s growth cycles, it can take 6 months before any improvement is noticed.

Contrary to what most men believe, women suffer from female hair loss, too. The truth is, women also experience depleted scalps. Female hair loss is very much a reality.

Female Pattern Baldness in the medical field, female hair loss is most commonly known as female pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia. Surprisingly it has been discovered that in America, the ratio of women who have it those who don’t is 1:4. Although female hair loss can’t kill in itself as a condition, it can be troubling.
Beauty magazines and the society in general always portray women as the gender with full heads and flowing beautiful hair. A woman who has a condition of female hair loss would therefore be seen as unusual.
Normal Hair Cycle
The normal hair cycle is characterized by hair resting and growing phases. In the anagen or growing phase, the hair develops healthily for a couple of years. After this, it will enter the telogen phase in which it will begin to rest for a number of months before falling off. Normally, 80%-90% of the hair is in the anagen phase, leaving only a comparatively small fraction in the telogen and shedding phase.
Women experiencing hair loss a lot more than 10% of their hair strands are in the telogen phase. In female hair loss, something disturbs the normal cycle.
Cause of Female Hair Loss
- The Hormones – Hormones play a big part in female hair loss. As some of us already know, both men and women have testosterone, a hormone which men normally have more of. In androgenetic alopecia, this hormone is acted upon by enzymes in the scalp that convert it into dihydrotestosteron (DHT).
The presence of DHT causes the hair follicles to shrink. This will eventually result to the loss of hair and the inability to grow new strands. In women, the action of DHT is regulated by the hormone estrogen. Female hair loss therefore normally occurs when a woman is in a state of hormonal imbalance. This can happen when a woman is in the menopausal stage or when she has just given birth. The condition can also strike when a woman is receiving hormonal treatment for an illness.

Pattern of Hair LossFemale and male hair loss differ a lot in appearance. Men usually develop bald spots. We are very much familiar with men eventually losing all hair strands on a particular area such as the top of the scalp. Female hair loss however is different. Women usually only have diffuse balding. This means that there is an observed general thinning of the hair strands resulting in some parts of the scalp becoming more noticeable through the remaining strands. A woman who develops bald spots like men may have a more serious condition that deserves medical attention.
Hair Loss Solution
Female hair loss treatment products are now available. Now that you know what causes the condition, the best solution is to find a product that can provide extra nutritional support to the female scalp and hair. Nutrients that have been discovered to be good for female hair loss are vitamin B6, biotin and magnesium. Of course, it also makes sense to take care of your health through proper diet and good lifestyle habits.
